Estate Planning for People 60 and Over
Your assets, your legacy, your retirement, your care
Stop. Putting. Off. Your. Future.
Have you ever heard the saying “failing to plan is planning to fail?” When it comes to estate & legacy planning, that’s the hard truth.
We’re well aware that no one wakes up in the morning, rolls out of bed, and says “I want to think about what will happen when I die!” Instead, you mentally file it away under “things I’ll get to later.”
Except you never do.
But when you don’t make a plan, you leave everything to chance—opening your loved ones or business partners up to conflict and endless hours spent in court. At the end, they might walk away with far less than they would if you’d only made that plan.
Not exactly the legacy you’re hoping to leave, right?
It’s time to invest in your peace of mind (and theirs).
This is for you if:
You’re new to estate planning and want to do things the right way the very first time;
You’re the parent of a minor child and want to make sure that they’re in safe hands should the worst happen;
You’re a young adult who wants to make sure your wishes are respected in an emergency;
You’re a business owner or established professional who wants to safeguard your assets and do succession planning;
You’re over 60 and want a plan that not only covers what happens when you’re not here, but gets the most out of the assets you already have; or
You need to set up a special needs trust so that your child or relative doesn’t lose access to Medicaid or other benefits.
The Business of Safeguarding Your Future
Estate planning is about more than just who gets your prized possession when you’re gone. It’s about making smart, informed decisions so that your legacy keeps growing while you’re alive. And once you die, your estate plan will make sure that your heirs get what they’re supposed to—minus the court battles.
But we also believe that your legacy is more than money or material things. We interview our clients about their values and their story, so that they’re present even after they’re gone.
And because we know that things will keep changing as long as you’re living, we revisit our clients’ estate plans every 3 years so they’re always up to date.
We don’t do one-size-fits-all estate plans—yours will be tailored to you, your wishes, and your family. But here’s what we might include:
A will that outlines where your money and other assets—your house, your jewelry—will go when you die
Trusts to transfer ownership of assets without having to go through probate court
Advanced directives that explain what you want to happen, medically speaking, if you’re incapacitated
Guardianship wishes for anyone who’s currently in your care
A succession plan for who’s going to take over your business when you’re gone
“I had a consultation with Pantea yesterday. Our interaction felt personal to my needs. She connects with her clients. She gave me so much information, more than what I was looking for She knew my questions even before I asked her. I left her office much more knowledgeable than when I walked in. I highly recommend her to everyone.”
“Palm Desert Law Group did exactly what I wanted in my Trust and will. They are precise and give me options to secure my assets. They are very friendly and professional. I will continue to use their services and find their newsletters informative.”
The Business of Protecting Your Kids
As the parent of a minor child, the last thing you want to think about is the big “what if?” But when you don’t make a plan for your children, you risk letting the family court do it for you.
We work with you to designate guardians and plan for your kids’ financial future in your absence, creating wills and trusts. We’ll also set up what we call a Kids Protection Plan—everything from short-term care planning to documenting those tiny nuances of your family routine that could make all the difference to grieving children.
As your estate planning lawyer, we can also create a special needs trust to ensure that children with medical needs or disabilities aren’t stripped of Medicaid and other benefits due to their inheritance.
“Pantea and her team made the whole estate planning process super easy for my husband and me. When our second child was born, they quickly made sure to add her to our planning, too!”
“Just finished the Kids Protection Plan Webinar. Pantea provided a great presentation with very useful information. Exactly what I was hoping for. Can’t wait to take the next step and start working on my plan with Palm Desert Law Group. Additionally, Serena was kind and reassuring when I called with minor technical difficulties. Very friendly and professional.”
The Business of Protecting Your Adult Life
As a young adult, it’s easy to think that estate planning has nothing to offer you—especially if you don’t own a home or have a partner.
But it’s never too early to make a plan. Together, we’ll make sure that your medical preferences are noted and that you have a will in place for what you do own. We’ll also talk about what happens to your online presence when you’re gone, and how any student debt will be handled.
The Business of Protecting Your Business
As a business owner or professional, legacy planning goes beyond just figuring out what happens to your personal assets.
You need to have a succession plan for what happens to your business when you’re gone.
(You’ve heard of the TV show Succession, right? Forty episodes of infighting about who would take charge. Don’t let that be you.)
There’s often minimal overlap between your estate planning attorney and your business lawyer. We’re here to bridge that gap, whether that means coming up with a business continuity plan or figuring out the tax implications of your legacy.
We also support small business owners over the life of their business, whether they’re looking to make their first hire or looking to sell so they can retire.
“Pantea and her team at Palm Desert Law are incredibly knowledgeable, experienced and caring. The service they provide is exceptional. Creating a trust can be difficult, but Pantea has so much patience when explaining each step and makes sure you are fully informed and understand the process along the way. She is passionate, professional and personable. I had a wonderful experience and highly recommend her.”
The Business of Protecting Your blended family
Blended families bring together unique relationships, histories, and financial considerations. Without a solid estate plan, the people you love most could be left navigating unnecessary legal battles, financial disputes, or even being unintentionally (or intentionally) disinherited.
We work with you to create a plan that reflects your wishes, ensuring fairness, protecting stepchildren’s inheritance rights, and balancing assets between current and former spouses. From trusts that safeguard your children’s future to customized healthcare directives and guardianship designations, we help you avoid the pitfalls that can leave blended families vulnerable.
Your family is one-of-a-kind—your estate plan should be too.
The Business of Protecting Your Retirement
When you’re in your 60s and beyond, estate planning isn’t just about what happens after your death. It’s also about living the rest of your life on your terms and no one else’s.
Together, we’ll not only prepare your wills and trusts, but we’ll also consider what happens if you need long-term care. We’ll also look at all the financial decisions you’ve made to see where you can get cash to cover expenses in a pinch.
“This was one of the best things I have ever done in my life and you guys were amazing in the way in which you taught me and guided me as I created my estate plan. Talk about having peace of mind now. Pantea, I really can’t thank you enough!”

Meet Your New CFO* (*Chief Future Officer)
